Patents Awarded to Avian Technologies
Dr. Art Springsteen, President and CTO of Avian Technologies, with co-worker Ian Cowe of Foss Analytical Ab, have been awarded two US and two European patents. The patents deal with the production of ‘artificial’ standards that mimic biological materials. These standards are used to calibrate instruments used in agricultural and pharmaceutical applications . In all, Dr. Springsteen now holds nine patents related to optical measurements and standards.

Dr. Springsteen awarded his 9th patent
Dr. Art Springsteen, President of Avian Technologies LLC, was recently awarded his 9th patent in the field of optical materials coatings, and references. U.S. Patent #7,477,375 titled "Optical Reference Standard for Analysis of Wet Foodstuffs" was issued 1-13-09. Working with his research colleague Ian Cowe of Foss Analytical Ab, the patent describes a method for making artificial reference standards that replicate the spectral, temporal, and mechanical properties of foodstuffs in a aqueous stream for on-line analysis.
